On December 5, the documentary “A Light in Spain Chandavila, that… happened” was premiered at the headquarters of Cajalmendralejo. In addition, a round table discussion was held prior to the presentation, with the participation of Mr. José Rodríguez Carballo and Mr. Mateo Blanco Cotano.
The event began with welcoming remarks, in which special thanks were expressed to Cajalmendralejo for the use of its facilities and to Mr. Julio Lledó, who was present representing the president of the institution.
Among the civil and ecclesiastical authorities present were also General of the Civil Guard José Manuel Santiago Marín, accompanied by his wife; the mayor of La Codosera, Juan Manuel Gómez Herrera, likewise accompanied by his wife; the Badajoz City Councilor Ana María Casañas; and Francisco Javier Gutiérrez, Elder Brother of the Brotherhood of Our Lady of Solitude, Patroness of Badajoz.
During the session, the spiritual depth of the events experienced by the young women Marcelina Barroso and Afra Brígido in 1945 was recalled, and it was emphasized how the documentary gathers valuable testimonies that help to understand the human and faith dimension of that experience which marked generations of believers. This premiere is also part of the renewed pastoral momentum that the sanctuary is experiencing following the letter from the Holy See entitled “A Light in Spain,” which recognizes the spiritual richness of the place and encourages keeping the devotion alive.
